This year, Guo Shu Cup is about a team competition between the traditional kung fu schools in Holland and surrounding countries, for adults and for children from 10-16 year old. Every school send their best students specialised in the following categories: hand form, short weapon, long weapon and ‘dui da’. Most important is that no modern elements may be applied; it is all about the pure traditional martial art.

Sinds Amy Chua in 2011 haar boek “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” publiceerde, waarin ze haar strenge opvoedingstechnieken, waarbij ze niet schroomde om haar kinderen enorm onder druk te zetten, te kleineren en te bedreigen, beschreef, is er wereldwijd een debat ontstaan over opvoeding en cultuur. Veel Westerlingen vinden haar opvoedingstechnieken schokkend en volgens psychologen maakt ze zich schuldig aan psychologisch geweld.  Aan de andere kant zijn voor veel Chinese en Aziatische jongeren die in het Westen opgroeien deze opvoedingstechnieken heel herkenbaar.
