Het beeld van China in de Gouden Eeuw
De tentoonstelling Barbaren & Wijsgeren belicht de wederzijdse beeldvorming tussen China en Nederland in de zeventiende eeuw. Nederlanders waren gefascineerd door de cultuur van het ‘Hemelse Rijk’, Chinezen verbaasden zich over de Nederlandse ‘roodharige barbaren’. Een keur aan schilderijen, tekeningen, porselein en modellen brengt de culturele uitwisseling in kaart. De tentoonstelling is te zien in het Frans Hals Museum van 25 maart tot en met 20 augustus 2017.

CinemAsia Film Festival on Tour 2016

This fall, CinemAsia Film Festival goes on tour to the brand new KINO theatre in Rotterdam. On Saturday October 22nd, during KINO’s opening weekend, CinemAsia presents a special selection of contemporary Asian cinema productions. The program includes feature films from Taiwan, Korea and Indonesia. Attention is also being paid to stories about the Dutch-Asian identity by young filmmakers in our Made in Holland section. In addition, the audience can also see the exhibition ‘Queers of Hong Kong’ by Joe Lam (HK) and enjoy delicious Asian food.

Following the successful presentation in the Chinese cities of Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai of exhibitions put together by Foam, this autumn the museum will be staging We May Have Met Before, an exhibition of the work of seven contemporary Chinese artists, compiled by the internationally famous Chinese curator Feng Boyi, Liu Gang and Wang Dong.
