The children of the Jingpo ethnicity in the China/Burma border area are very much gifted in arts and language learning, but also heavily threatened by drugs and HIV/AIDS, while having little access to good education. The grassroots NGO Prop Roots, permanently based in the Jingpo countyside, aims at fostering their confidence and individuality, by means of creative art and language education and intercultural exchange. CRTV interviews co-founder Dr Anton Lustig, a Dutch painter and musician, and also the world’s main expert on the Jingpo’s language.

Jialei is an educational platform between China and The Netherlands, focusing on cultural and educational communication between these two countries. Jialei organizes exchange programs and summer schools. The purpose of all their projects is to help both Chinese and Dutch secondary school scholars develop their inter-cultural skills so that they can better fit in today’s international environment. What could Dutch learn from Chinese and vice versa? How could scholars attain the intercultural skills? What are your experiences with cooperations with Chinese or Dutch?
