Start-ups – Immigration solutions for high educated Chinese entrepreneurs

14 maart2After graduation, Chinese students may be eligible for the so-called “search year permit” that allows students to search for a job in the Netherlands. After this year, they have to apply for a new residence permit to continue their stay in the Netherlands. On the basis of a job with an employer the highly skilled migrant program may support a permit, however this does require finding a qualifying employer and meeting certain salary thresholds.

For those who want to start their own business, the recently implemented “Start-up permit” may provide a solution. This permit allows entrepreneurs to start their own business from scratch, provided that the product or service is innovative and certain other requirements are met.

Chui Wan (吹万) is a four-piece experimental psychedelic rock band from Beijing, China. They get their name from Daoist philosopher Zhuangzi’s Qi Wu Lun (齐物论), a mystical work on inner sageliness and outer kingliness. Zhuangzi writes: “谓风吹万窍,发出各种音响” – “When the wind blows, every sound may be heard therein.”

QUEERS OF HONG KONG is a series of portraits of the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer) community in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, Queer is the umbrella term for the LGBTQ community. With his exposition Lam wants to reveal the diversity within the Queer community in Hong Kong. Every portrait is accompanied by a deeply personal story.

The Photo Exposition will kick off with a panel with a.o Joe Lam (Director of the Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival) and Werner Borkes (director of the Roze Filmdagen, Amsterdam) and Lei Ma (Helan Online / RNW Media) about the role of media in the social and cultural position of the LGBTQ community in Hong Kong and Amsterdam and its significance for the innovation and development of these creative cities.

De heersende orde van de Wereldbank en het IMF heeft sinds kort een Chinese tegenhanger, de AIIB, waarmee China een enorm infrastructuurproject wil financieren om Azië en Europa met elkaar te verbinden, een Nieuwe Zijderoute. Dit nieuwe internationale financiële instituut dwingt Europa kleur te bekennen. De Britten besloten om tegen het dringende advies van de Verenigde Staten in, lid te worden, en ook Nederland heeft zich bij het Chinese initiatief aangesloten. Volgens China-watcher Martin Jacques is dit het begin van een nieuwe Chinese wereldorde. VPRO Tegenlicht gaat aanstaande zondag op zoek naar hoe de Chinese moderniteit van de 21ste eeuw er uitziet. Want daar kunnen we maar beter zo snel mogelijk aan wennen. Dat weten ze ook bij ADO Den Haag.
