Sinds Amy Chua in 2011 haar boek “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” publiceerde, waarin ze haar strenge opvoedingstechnieken, waarbij ze niet schroomde om haar kinderen enorm onder druk te zetten, te kleineren en te bedreigen, beschreef, is er wereldwijd een debat ontstaan over opvoeding en cultuur. Veel Westerlingen vinden haar opvoedingstechnieken schokkend en volgens psychologen maakt ze zich schuldig aan psychologisch geweld. Sinfonia Rotterdam begins Chinese New Year with a special concert. Conductor Renchang Fu will conduct this orchestra with Chinese folkthemes like ‘Horse Racing’ and ‘Two Sprins reflecting the moon’. For violiniste Bin Huang, this will be her first perfomance in The Netherlands too.
