Trip around China in new year holiday
Tibet was really amazing! First we (with a group of people working and living in Shanghai) went to Chengdu in the Sichuan province. The weather was lovely and everything was blossoming. We visited the Panda Breeding & Research Centre. So sweet, especially the baby pandas. Pandas are practically eating bamboo and sleeping the whole day, must be a nice life…

Happy New Year!
Having fun during the holidays in Shanghai was not so hard! While Chinese people had to work during Christmas, most international students and expats went home to celebrate with their family. Strange that all shops are decorated like Christmas is such a big thing here in China, while it only has commercial purposes. But of course, Chinese people grabbed the opportunity to have a good meal!
Life in Shanghai
3 months have passed by since my arrival here. Time flies when you’re having fun! My understanding of Mandarin has improved a little bit but my pronunciation is still bad. According to my teacher, Cantonese speaking Chinese always have difficulties with speaking Mandarin because of the difference between Cantonese and Mandarin in the tones...
Study and leisure
School has started two weeks ago. Classmates from all over the world (Japanese, Korean, French, American, Filipino, English and Thai), some with a Chinese background, from all ages and with different reasons to learn Mandarin (parent’s wish, husband is expat, business reasons, personal choice).
